The Saint Raphaël professional road cycling team was created in France in 1954. Its first sponsor was the association of the Saint Raphaël aperitif brand with the bicycle manufacturer "Geminiani cycles".

Renowned runners like Jacques Anquetil, Lucien Aimar and Rudi Altig. Jacques Anquetil gave the team numerous victories, 3 Tour de France in 1962, 1963 and 1964, two Tours of Italy in 1960 and 1964 and a Tour of Spain in 1963.

During the 10 years of existence the team has had several names like Saint-Raphaël-R. Geminiani-Dunlop, Saint-Raphaël-Helyett-Hutchintson or even Saint-Raphaël-Gitane-Dunlop.
